a guided tour of the internet

Inside my computer lives an RSS reader which commands a great deal of my attention on an average day. An typical session in front of my computer, at the present, consists in frantically checking for acceptance/rejection emails from far off lands, a depressing journey through the recent WhoGotIn posts, and then a cathartic and eclectic tour of the internet aboard the NetNewsWire express.
At this very moment, it beckons me with one hundred and twenty-nine unread blog posts:

Inside, my favored subscriptions are put into a folder marked “README”. Today I’ll offer a tour.

This last one is the newest addition, as I have just added it today based on two posts with interesting pictures of microscope slides and a satellite.
The picture at the top was taken during preparation for a potluck at Deanna’s house last night. I have been inspired lately by some beautiful food photography at this next blog.
Because I don’t actually read the posts or make the recipes, but just peer at the perfectly-lit and beautifully arranged still-lifes, Smitten Kitchen does doesn’t make the cut for the “README” section, but resides in the one labeled “eye candy” instead.
